Google will cancel Chrome paid extensions

Google announced the decommissioning of paid plugins on the Chrome browser displayed on the Chrome online marketplace.

Google will cancel Chrome paid additions

This means that developers trying to monetize their extensions will have to do so using other payment processing systems.

As of Monday, developers can no longer create new paid extensions, according to Google – although this reinforces the policy in place since March.

The policy follows a temporary suspension of the publication of paid extensions in January after Google noted a slight increase in fraudulent transactions “aimed at exploiting users.”

Google will phase out some other jobs in the coming months, and on February 1.

According to Google, current extensions can no longer charge customers using the Chrome Online Market Payment System.

These are not the only notable changes to extensions made by Google this year as the company rolled out a number of policy updates in April aimed at reducing unwanted extensions, including banning multiple extensions doing the same, not allowing developers to manipulate reviews or evaluations to try to get a better order, and preventing extensions that abuse notifications.
