X has announced the availability of live video broadcasting within audio spaces, and audio space users notice a new option to play video when creating a new audio space session for the first time.

X brings live streaming to audio spaces

One user posted an official explanation of the feature via the platform formerly known as Twitter, and hosts can choose the front or rear camera, as well as choose the horizontal or vertical mode of the video feed.

The feature is available for audio spaces via iOS and Android version of the X app, as well as web version.

Many users have reported significant delays during the feature experience to date. Based on posts posted by some users, X needs to fix some errors and other problems for the feature to run smoothly.

Playing video right now leads to a very long delay in chat sessions, and streaming in horizontal mode makes it impossible to manage audio space, since the video plays the screen.

Participants on computers do not yet have the ability to view videos.

Hosts have the ability to play video right now, and as a result you get a prominent view of the host’s video feed surrounded by the icons of the co-hosts, speakers and any listeners.

The host’s video feed is available within the audio space session only, and users must join the session in order to watch it, meaning that the recorded spaces are still only audio for the time being.

Elon Musk announced late last year that audio spaces would receive live video broadcasts.

His description of the feature then seemed more akin to how a video conferencing or video calling app, such as FaceTime, works, as video streaming goes to the person currently speaking.

The audio spaces of a video session currently feature the host’s video feed surrounded by small icons of any other speakers, co-hosts or listeners in the room.

Live streaming within audio spaces is separate from X’s live streaming feature. The live broadcast feature within X allows users to actually stream live video.

Audio spaces act as a live chat room, with multiple users listening and talking, while the live audience can only comment or send hearts.
