WhatsApp has announced the launch of a history search feature in the Android app starting today in individual conversations and groups, as announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via his platform channel.

This feature was previously available on WhatsApp in iPhone as well as Mac computers and web version.

Users can only search for a chat on a particular date instead of setting a time range, and to use that feature, users should go to the individual chat or intended group and then choose the search option and click on the calendar icon in the search bar.

It is worth mentioning that users can already search all conversations according to the type of messages such as links, media and documents through the search option available on the app’s homepage.

Previous reports had indicated that the platform was experimenting with new filters to search messages such as “all”, “unread”, “contacts” and “groups”, as well as another candidate called “favorite”, to quickly verify star-marked messages.

The platform tries to facilitate users’ easy and quick access to desired messages, especially when individual conversations or groups are full of messages, and their link to a specific date may be one of the factors helping to quickly find them again.

WhatsApp has recently launched new messaging formatting options in the app, namely dot and digital lists, code identification and quote creation, and is currently testing a range of advantages in the app’s beta version.
