The first thing you should do if you have one of these apps installed on your mobile phone is to delete it immediately. Many of them are no longer even available on Google Play, but they can continue to work on devices that were previously available on them. They have about 12 million downloads in total, so they are widespread.

Cybercriminals behind this series of apps used it to gather information from users, and then used it to blackmail people into paying them different amounts from time to time.
